Unmasking: Finding the Authentic Self.

Join us for this 2 hour workshop grounded in finding the authentic self after a life of being told who to be or hiding behind what we feel is socially accepted.

Masking is the process of hiding, changing, or suppressing parts of ourselves in order to feel accepted, safe, successful, or less likely to be judged.

It can look like:

* People pleasing — adjusting yourself to meet others’ expectations while ignoring your own needs

* Perfectionism — presenting a “put together” version of yourself to avoid criticism or shame

* Emotional hiding — minimizing feelings, pretending you’re okay, or avoiding vulnerability

* Over-functioning — always being the helper, achiever, or strong one

* Avoidance or disconnection — pulling away from your needs, body, or emotions to cope

Masking is often a protective strategy we learn over time. While it may help us navigate certain situations, carrying a mask constantly can become exhausting and make it harder to feel connected to ourselves and others.
